Paracas

Hola Amigos!
Unfortunately, we haven't had much wifi over the last few days so here is a blog with several posts from our last few cities. Sorry to cram all of it in at once but I'm taking advantage of this free wifi...
The first town starts with Paracas. It is a coastal town south of Lima that we stumbled upon. We hadn't planned, originally, to go here and were planning on going to Pisco but Pisco was devastated by the 2007 earthquake to we chose this little town instead. We went on two tours, one to the Paracas National Reserve which was a desert coastline. Truly beautiful but out pictures come from the other tour, Islas Ballestas, which was just amazing.
Islas Ballestas is labeled as "the poor man's Galapagos." The boat tour took us to a series of little islands that were covered in wildlife. We saw so many native birds, sea lions and penguins. Hank's favorite were the enormous pelicans. It was one of the better things we have done on this journey!
From there we went on to Ica...
